Both of these wooden hand planes are of solid
European Beech construction.
The jack plane has just enough mass to provide exceptional rough
planing, and at
the same time is
not very fatiguing after long use. The
smoothing plane has enough heft
and mass to provide exceptional fine smoothing. Both the jack and smoothing plane
feature
a plane and cap iron assembly handcrafted by Hock Tools. Each of these
planes is tuned and
tested prior to being shipped. These planes are provided with the White Mountain Toolworks
engraved
maker's mark and
comes complete with both adjustment instructions and
sharpening
instructions for the plane iron.
Both the jack plane and smoothing plane are provided with a cutting angle of
47.5 degrees.
The large jack plane is an excellent choice for rough shaping of lumber, and can also be
adjusted for finer shavings.
These hand planes also feature a tropical wood mouth insert
ahead of the cutting edge and inlaid into the sole. The finish is durable and
moisture resistent.
